Primeiro de quatro shows do U2 - anunciado como "U.2 Band" -  aos domingos. A imprensa musical de Dublin noticiou que outra banda, chamada Frazzle, fez os três domingos restantes: ou o U2 não foi convidado novamente, ou - de acordo com alguns relatos - eles cancelaram a residência depois de decidir que este não era o local certo para eles.

This is the first of four Sunday shows that U2 – billed as “U.2 Band” – are scheduled to play at the Crofton Airport Hotel. The Dublin music press from 1979 shows another band called Frazzle playing the remaining three Sundays: either U2 were not invited back, or – according to some reports – they cancelled the residency after deciding this was not the right venue for them. O baterista de Peter Gabriel e o guitarrista de Lou Reed perguntam se podem tocar com a banda da casa. Bono se junta a eles e canta Sweet Jane de Lou Reed; ele altera a letra para "Sweet Rose", em honra a uma mulher na sala a quem ele canta a música. Mais tarde, eles juntam-se com Larry, Adam, Peter Gabriel, Brian Adams, Neville Brothers e Joan Baez, mas as canções de rock e blues cantadas são desconhecidas. Às 4h o gerente do hotel fechou o lounge, mas eles continuaram cantando no foyer.

Peter Gabriel's drummer and Lou Reed's guitarist ask if they can play with the house band. Bono joins them and sings Lou Reed's Sweet Jane; he alters the lyrics to "Sweet Rose" in honour of a woman in the lounge to whom he sings the song. Later, they are joined by Larry, Adam, Peter Gabriel, Brian Adams, the Neville Brothers, and Joan Baez, but the rock and blues songs they covered are unknown. At 4am, the hotel manager removes them from the lounge but they keep singing in the foyer. (U2Gigs)

Cerca de um minuto da primeira execução de Vertigo, Bono apresenta The Edge e ele toca um trecho de Native Son na guitarra por cerca de dez segundos. Um dia antes de este show, o U2 ensaiou um show completo no estádio vazio. Ao contrário do ensaio anterior da primeira etapa na América do Norte, os fãs não foram autorizados a entrar. No entanto, muitos ouviram o show do lado de fora do estádio.

About a minute into the first Vertigo of the night, Bono introduces The Edge, and Edge plays a snippet of Native Son on guitar for about ten seconds. The day before this gig, U2 rehearsed a complete show in the empty stadium. Unlike the rehearsal prior to the first leg in North America, no fans were allowed inside this time. Nonetheless, many heard the show from outside the stadium. (U2Gigs)
